I am a forty five year old writer and journalist living in the frozen North East of England.
I divide my time between my home in Newcastle and a shared flat in the capital city, where everyone seems to laugh at the idea that anyone could write about culture in the arts in Newcastle.
Of course, they are all hopelessly ignorant as many Londoners are and I am on a permanent mission to bring enlightenment, not to my fellow Georgies, but to these effete southerners who scoff so much but know so little about my home town.
But I digress. After studying Fine Art at Goldsmith’s College, I decided not to go into the art world personally, but to write and review it.
To begin with, I only wrote on topics of art and culture, but over the years this has broadened out to now include most topics. In fact, I probably spend more time scribbling about business and leisure issues than I do fine art.
This has kept me busy for the best part of the last twenty years or more although I do still keep painting as a hobby. When I am not working I am travelling the country with either my easel and brushes, looking for inspiration, or just more recently, my camera.
In between all the other writing projects that I have on the go, I am hoping to release a book of photography later on in 2017, which will of course be available for purchase on this site.
This site is still very much a work in progress and may have a few blank spots in it at the moment, where a cartographer from days gone by may have noted ‘here be dragons’. However, I do hope very much that you will pardon the black holes and bear with it, because with your help it is going to be truly awesome.
